"Here For My Habits" is the second single and second track from Ängie's debut EP, Suicidal Since 1995. The song was released on March 23rd, 2018 on all streaming platforms. On April 25th, 2018, Ängie released a double-feature music video along with the track "Venus In Furs".

Background[]

The first draft of the song was written very fast, half a year after "Dope". The basic beat of the track was sent to Ängie by Mats Jönsson, and in the studio she worked on the lyrics while he did the instrumentals.

The song took a year and a half between sessions to be finished, and the final version of the track ended up being produced by Canto.

Theme[]

The song is about Ängie wanting to buy drugs for someone who wants something more from her. "'Here For My Habits' is a song about my earlier experiences with dealers. Somehow, many of them have tried to hit on me, or even fallen for me. It’s a bit sad that you can’t be a girl and do anything without getting a sexual invitation." - said Ängie on her Instagram Stories.[1]

On her web-series Inside Ängie, she talked more in-depth about how she feels about the track: "The song itself is kinda tragic but it's still beautiful [...] even though it is about that type of subject. [...] When  I think about [the song] I think about how much drugs I used to do, and how important it was for me to just sing about drugs all the time. [...] That was like my image, my personality was stuck in 'I'm just some kind of stoner girl I guess', and I'm happy that I grew up from that."[2]

Trivia[]

  • Ängie released the video when the music video for "Dope" reached 500k views.
  • The music video features some of Ängie's friends and also her fiancé, Pussel Widegren.
  • The first title of the song was "Only Here For My Habits" but she later made it shorter for the release.
  • The line "I just wanna slide" on the hook is a homage to her manager, who says when she's anxious she should imagine herself being a penguin, sliding down an ice cave. The advice most likely came from a scene from the movie Fight Club.[3]
