"Basic" is a song by Ängie in collaboration with Harrison First. It's the fourth track on their debut album Not Pushing Daisies. It was released on June 5th, 2020, with its music video being released the same day, a few hours later.
The song was supposed to be the lead single for the album, but was set aside in favor of "Silver Sadness".
Background[]
Ängie posted a small snippet of the song in her Instagram Stories on December 22nd, 2019. On the same day, when she announced she made another album with Harrison First, the producer commented about the song, confirming its title.[1]
January 2020, Harrison First did a live-stream on the app Whalebone where he played various upcoming songs including part of Basic.
On March 3rd, 2020, Harrison and Ängie started shooting for the song's music video, which is directed by Jean-Luc Mwepu. The shooting lasted 2 days and had multiple locations. On the second day, another snippet of the song was revealed on Instagram Stories by one of the people assisting with filming.
On her Instagram Stories, Ängie confirmed later that month that the music video and song were going to be released in June 2020.

In interview for Teez FM, Harrison talked about what the song was about: "The story behind the song is calling all the people that want to be around you only because of success, Basic. People who had the chance to be around you and hangout but never wanted to until they see others show you love for your work."[2]
